Saints win! Saints win!.
Renowned for attacking rugby played with flair, under the 18-month tutelage of coach, Danial Anderson, the Saints have now added a swarming defensive commitment founded on a tremendous team work ethic. It was that defence, which blunted Hull’s best efforts throughout, that won this game for the Saints, whether it was Jon Wilkin chasing down line breaks by Hull’s pacy half backs or the rock solid Paul Wellens at fullback steadfastly refusing to let all-comers pass. Wellens has matured into a collosus at fullback and deservedly added the Harry Sunderland trophy (for man of the match) to the Man of Steel and Players player of the year awards, which he won in midweek.
